Welcome
A visit to Painswick Rococo Garden will take you back to the the early 1700s. This was a time when gardens were fashionable theatrical sets, providing a stunning backdrop to decadent garden parties.
Instead of a flower garden, you will happen across a stunning kitchen garden, beautifully-framed views of the surrounding countryside and fanciful garden buildings. You can lose yourself amongst the lofty trees of our leafy woodland walk, snuggle up in our follies and watch friends and family battle to find the centre of our unusual maze. And afterwards, enjoy delicious homemade cakes or a light lunch in our cosy cafe.

Picnic Area
Car park/Entrance area picnic facilities
Picnic benches are provided on a large grassy area, the area is gently sloping with easy access to the car park area. This picnic area is not available January - March.
Garden from the entrance gate
Please be aware that garden is in a valley with paths accessing all areas, but some of the paths are steep and very challenging for wheelchair use. In the top half of the garden (from the entrance gate as far as the main duck pond) the paths are primarily solid with a light gravel topping. The lower half of the garden is more natural woodland and the paths are bark chipped. Some paths are quite steep and some areas are uneven and during wet winter months paths can become muddy.
The welcome desk can provide a map showing the least hilly walk around the garden, it may be necessary to double back on the route in order to leave the garden via the more gentle slope. There are benches at regular points throughout the garden.
Play area
The play area lies at the bottom of the garden, furthest from the main entrance. The paths that approach it are bark chipped and on a slope. The play area itself has a surface of bark chip. There are benches and a large picnic table within the area.
