Welcome
The Museum of Archaeology's collections range from the prehistoric to the post-medieval. Our gallery charting the story of Durham is housed within Palace Green Library.
The main focus of our collections is the archaeology of North East England but the collection also includes national and international material, much of it excavated by members of Durham University’s Department of Archaeology.
The archaeological displays sit alongside other artefacts from the University’s collections. This sets Durham, its people and its University in a broader historical and cultural setting.
