Welcome

West Mainland Leisure Centre is a friendly, local, community-focused sports hub based in Aith, Shetland. We are commited to ensure that the population of Shetland can become more active, more often! Our facilities include: Swimming Pool, Health Suite (steam room, sauna), Gym, Climbing Wall and Games Hall. We look foward to meeting you soon!

You can get to West Mainland Leisure Centre by bus.
The nearest bus stop is on the main road B9071 beside the Eid Community Coop and Post Office. Google maps bus stop ID number 45823482. The bus stop is 0.2 miles / 0.3 km from West Mainland Leisure Centre.

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.

Stewards can bring food and drink to wheelchair users.

The Main Hall viewing area is located in our foyer area just inside our main entrance; no additional doors are required to access this viewing area.

Our Swimming Pool viewing area is located just off our foyer area and through a push/pull hinged door which can be opened to a width of 1320mm.

From the main entrance to the viewing area, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 1260 wide, or more. Personal assistants and friends can sit with wheelchair users.

Stewards can bring food and drink to wheelchair users.

Our Climbing Wall viewing area is accessed via a corridor and downward ramp, the narrowest part of the route being 1260mm.

The swimming pool has a hoist.

We have 2 hoists in our swimming pool area. One is located in our accessible changing room which can be used to transfer customers from their wheelchair onto our changing bed or onto our hoist chair. Once in our hoist chair customers can be taken to our 2nd hoist which transfers them from the chair into the water.

The door is 750mm wide.
There is a wide changing cubicle for a wheelchair user.
