Welcome

Villa Farm Cottage is a Bed&Breakfast outside the little hamlet of Thornton Curtis in a quite, rural area setting, surroundend by fields and countryside.

The cottage is a fully restored C18th Lincolnshire Cottage.

It retains all period features, the house retains the best of both tradional and modern designs.

Thornton Curtis is lying convenient to Humberside airport, the Humber Bridge and the M180.

A great location in peaceful surroundings for North Lincolnshire and the East Riding, making it easy access to tourists and business people alike.

All staff have disability awareness training. Some staff have Next Generation Text training.

Staff are available 24 hours a day.

We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Villa Farm Cottage by train.
The nearest train station is Thornton Abbey . The train station is 0.7 miles / 1.1 km from Villa Farm Cottage.

Thornton Abbey is only a very small station, connecting trains will be required to get there. Walking distance from the cottage along a small path approximate 10 to 20 minutes.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Call-a-car Taxis by calling 01652 633070.

A car would be essential for the location of Villa Farm Cottage.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.
From the parking to the main entrance, there are 3 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.

We have 2 car parks, one which is situated at the end of the garden, which means a short walk along a small walk path along the road to the cottage, another one which is outside the cottage with straight entrance to the cottage.

From the street to the main entrance, there are 3 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.

The door is 1500mm wide.
The main entrance has 3 steps.
This entrance has a handrail.
The main door is side hung and manual.

Access to the cottage is via 2 entrances, depending on the room which is booked. The main entrance has a set of french doors which both can be open fully inwards.

Other entrance door for the Abbey suite has 2 small steps, but a flight of stairs going up to the room.

Getting around inside

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, floor standing lights, bedside lamps, spot lights and natural daylight.
Lights are halogen, LED and energy saving. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
Some bedrooms have fitted carpets.

The route to the bedroom is 800mm wide, or more. The bedroom door is 800mm wide. There is 1700mm at the side of the bed. The bed is 580mm high. There is 280mm under the bed.
The bedroom is double. The bathroom is ensuite. The bathroom door is 800mm wide.
The bathroom has a separate shower. The shower has a handrail.
The toilets have handrails. The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the right. There is 250mm at the side of the toilet.
There is 1300mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 400mm high.
The basin is 850mm high. The taps are lever operated. There is no space under the basin.
The walls and the bathroom fittings have high colour contrast.

Place to eat and drink

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. To get to a table, there are no steps.
There is background music sometimes.
We cater for vegetarian specific diets.

We only serve breakfast, in 2 of the rooms (Cottage and Abbey suite) the breakfast will be served in the room as there are seperate dining tables. For the 3rd room the breakfast will be served in a seperate dining room which is on the ground floor.

Getting around outside

Cottage garden

From the main entrance to the gardens, there is level access.
The route is sloped. The route is 750mm wide, or more.

There are different seating areas available in the garden, one access is via a garden path, the other one is through the car park. Some areas in the garden are not even and can be slippery when wet.

Smoking

From the main entrance to the smoking area, there are 2 steps.

We have 1 designated smoke area which is in the patio area. Suitable ashtrays can be provided for guests who wish to smoke in different areas of the garden.

To get to a table, there is 1 step.

The patio area can be slippery when it is wet. Due to undergrowing roots of the trees not all patio slaps are even.

The driveway as well as the car park has decorative gravel.

Accessibility equipment

There is a handrail outside the main entrance where the french doors are and a handrail in the bathroom near the toilet in the Cottage suite.

There are designated areas within the garden available. As we live in a rural area there are fields and walkways available suitable for dogs.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

This could be charged either in the hall way near the Cottage suite or in the Cottage suite itself.

Myself and partner are living in the cottage so we are available 24 hours.
