Welcome

The choice holiday destination of Charles Dickens. A long sandy bay, cliff top promenade and boardwalk.

Viking Bay is excellent for the family with tidal pool, children's rides and surf ski/belly boards. The surf school is open from March to October.  Deck chair and lounger hire available.

There are seasonal lifeguards. Lots of restaurants, cafes and bars in the town and some food and drink concessions on the beach.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Viking Bay by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is on Victoria Parade or Queens Road for more frequent services. Both are less than 5 minutes walk from the beach. The bus stop is 0.2 miles / 0.3 km from Viking Bay.
The nearest train station is Broadstairs. The train station is 0.4 miles / 0.6 km from Viking Bay.

You can get a taxi with Central Cars by calling 01843 888888. You can get a taxi with Thanet Cars by calling 01843 333333. You can get a taxi with United Cars by calling 01843 581581.

Parking

There is parking near the venue. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is not free.
The most suitable place to drop off is opposite Lillyputt Mini Golf on Victoria Parade which is 2 minutes walk from the lift.(seasonal) Alternatively, there is opportunity to drop off at Harbour Street car park, to access the slope to the beach, but this does not provide access to the beach boardwalk.

Parking is available in various nearby public car parks, in order of priximity to the beach, these are:

-Broadstairs Harbour Car Park Broadstairs 69 spaces (including 4 disabled bays) (closest to slipway entrance)

-Chandos Square Car Park Broadstairs 31 spaces (closest to lift and boardwalk)

-Albion Street Car Park Broadstairs  81 spaces (including 5 disabled bays)

-Crofts Place Car Park Broadstairs 50 spaces (including 3 disabled bays)

-Vere Road Car Park Broadstairs 47 spaces (including 4 disabled bays)

Lift

We have 1 lift.
You can get a lift to all floors.
The lift door is 1000mm wide.
The lift says the floor number at each floor.
The lift buttons have raised numbers or letters.
The lift shows the floor number, at each floor.
Opening Times - 1st April - 4th October 09:30 - 18:30

Getting around outside

Beach

The beach access point is 30.00meters from the nearest car park.
From the nearest car park to the beach, there is level access. There is a lift.
From the lift to the beach, the path is 2090mm wide, or more. The entrance is 2010mm wide.
The beach has a boardwalk. Wheelchair users can use the boardwalk.
There are sun loungers.
There is a First Aid Station.

Bay inspectors in season assist the RNLI with minor first aid. The RNLI provide 7 day service between 23 May - 6 September.
