Welcome

Underleigh House is committed to ensure an appropriate accommodation service for prospective guests with disabilities. Due to the layout of Underleigh House, we lack facilities for guests with severe mobility limitations but we try to make our house as accessible as we can. We welcome any enquiries from guests with disabilities so we can discuss their needs and all reasonable attempts will be made to meet these. All bedrooms - except the Townhead Garden Suite - are at first floor level and are accessed by a flight of 14 stairs. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Underleigh House is an attractive converted cottage and shippon with parking on gravel immediately to the front of the property.

Access with steps

The main entrance has 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

Bedrooms

We have non-allergic bedding.

Hearing

The (bedroom) TVs have subtitles.
Some staff have Next Generation Text and disability awareness training.

The menu is in large print and Our breakfast menu and guest information can be provided in large print and/or described verbally..

General

Staff are available 24 hours a day.
Some staff have disability awareness training.
We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Underleigh House by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is on Castleton Road, in the centre of the village of Hope, approximately 1 mile from Underleigh House. Guest collection can be arranged. The bus stop is 1 miles / 1.6 km from Underleigh House.
The nearest train station is Hope (Derbyshire). The train station is 2 miles / 3.2 km from Underleigh House.

For those coming to Underleigh without a car, we will collect from Hope Station. 

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Penny's Cars by calling 07917710771. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
You can get a taxi with Nice Private Hire by calling 07977 402060. We have a transfer service for visitors.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.
From the parking to the main entrance, there is 1 step. There is no ramp and no lift. We have a transport service, to take visitors from the car park to the main entrance.

Access from the car park to the front door of the house is gravelled and there is a single step to the entrance of the property.

From the street to the main entrance, there is 1 step. There is no ramp and no lift.

The main entrance has 1 steps.

Getting around inside

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, wall lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are LED and energy saving. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
People allergic to cat/dog fur should be aware that there are family pets on the premises. and With prior notification non allergenic pillows and bedding can be provided.
The bedroom nearest the main entrance has 3 steps.
All bedrooms are ensuite.
We have bathrooms with a separate shower.
Some showers have a handrail.
We have bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower. The shower has a handrail.
Aston's en suite has a bath with shower over. Derwent's en suite has a large walk-in shower Townhead's en suite shower room Thornhill's en suite has a bath with shower over.  There are 2 steps  to negotiate to access the bathroom.

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

Place to eat and drink

Breakfast hall

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.
To get to a table, there is 1 step.
The menu is offered in large print .
Our breakfast menu and guest information can be provided in large print and/or described verbally.
If you need table service, staff can help you.
There is no background music.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), nut free, high fibre and vegan specific diets.

A variety of dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notification.

People with nut allergies should be aware that we do use nuts in the kitchen but nut free breakfast options are available.

Getting around outside

Underleigh House Gardens

From the main entrance to the gardens, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

Townhead Garden Suite is the only room that has direct internal access to the garden via a patio door and a step. The occupants of all other rooms have to access the garden via an external route which also involves a step.

From the main entrance to the terrace, there is 1 step.

A designated guest fridge is available for medications/insulin/special foods etc

The verges along Lose Hill Lane (directly from the entrance of Underleigh House) are suitable for assistance dogs. There is also a small grass area (which is access to a field) just inside the entrance of Underleigh House which could also be used as a toilet area.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

An weatherproof outside socket is available.

Emergency evacuation procedures

We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

Fire alarm is audible only

Emergency information will be communicated verbally on request.
