Welcome

Monkey Forest is completely unique in the UK. Home to 140 free roaming Barbary macaques. Visitors stick to the 3/4 of a mile pathway whilst the monkeys are free to roam.

Level access

The main entrance has level access.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Trentham Monkey Forest by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is located just outside our entrance. If getting the bus from Stoke train station to Hanley bus station – Number 21/21A. From Hanley bus station to Monkey Forest – Number 101. Please visit First Bus journey planner before your journey. The bus stop is 0.5 miles / 0.8 km from Trentham Monkey Forest.
The nearest train station is Stoke on Trent. The train station is 5.2 miles / 8.4 km from Trentham Monkey Forest.

Taxi's located outside the station. 

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Rosevile by calling 01782 613456. We have a transfer service for visitors. Wheelchair users can use the transfer service.

If you need a taxi booking we can call and do this from our office onsite.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
During opening hours we need to keep the main entrance clear due to health and safety of visitors. The disabled parking bays are the closest to the main entrance. From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The route is 3000mm wide, or more.

Open kiosks with easy to open swing barrier. Larger gate/opening which can be opened at side of kiosk.

From the main entrance to the desk, there is level access. The route is 2000mm wide, or more.
The desk has a low section.

The ticket kiosk is low enough for wheelchair users to access

We have a concessionary rate for disabled visitors.

Public toilet

Men/Women/Disabled/Baby Changing

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. The route is 900mm wide, or more.
The toilet door is 1000mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the right.
There is 1500mm at the side of the toilet. There is 2000mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 450mm high. The toilets have handrails.

No need for ramp as all one level.

The Jungle Shop

From the main entrance to the shop, there is level access. The route is 900mm wide, or more. The door is 900mm wide.

The Banana Cafe

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. The route is 900mm wide, or more. The door is 900mm wide.
To get to a table, there are no steps.
The dining area is self-service. If you need table service, staff can help you.
There is no background music.
We cater for vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), nut free, low fat, high fibre and vegan specific diets.

Please ask at the counter as we are always happy to help with any dietary requirements.

Getting around outside

Designated Walking Trail

Trentham Monkey Forest - enclosure

The trail is 1200metres long. The trail has a hard surface. The trail is sloped. The trail has seats.

Due to natural forest terrain not all parts of the forest pathway is accessible. The steep slopes can be avoided. Please ask for our accessibility leaflet at the kiosk for more information.

From the car park to the picnic area, there is level access. The path is 800mm wide, or more.
The entrance is 2000mm wide.
You can bring your own food to the picnic area.

Accessibility equipment

Due to the nature of the park guide dogs are not allowed in the monkey enclosure as the monkeys are free roaming and dogs are natural predators of the Barbary macaques. We are, however, happy to look after guide dogs in the onsite office whilst you enjoy your time in the park. Please call us on 01782 659845 to arrange this.
