Welcome

Tittesworth Water is situated 3.5 miles outside the market town of Leek on the edge of the Peak District in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands. There are lots of activities for everone on offer at Tittesworth, we have a fantastic play area for the younger visitors, wildlife watching, surfaced trails, watersports centre and a fully accessible visitor centre with a gift shop and restaurant serving everything from freshly prepared meals to scrumptious cakes,or just sit and watch the world go by whilst taking in the magnificent views.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Leek Link Taxis by calling 01538 399999. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is not free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The route is 1700mm wide, or more.

There are 17 designated parking spaces for blue badge holders 11 in the car park next to the main entrance of the visitor centre and 6 in the car park by the play area. Parking charges are £3.00 for up to 2 hours or £5.00 for over 2 hours.

We have contrast markings on all glass doors.

Visitor Centre

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 1700mm wide, or more. The door is 1600mm wide.
Some display information is low, for wheelchair users. There are seats.

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The route is 1050mm wide, or more.
The toilet door is 1050mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the front only.
There is 1250mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 460mm high. The toilets have handrails.

There are two toilets designated for disabled people on site, one inside the visitor centre and one next to the play area.

From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The route is 1300mm wide, or more.
The toilet door is 900mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the front only.
There is 1700mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 480mm high. The toilets have handrails.

From the main entrance to the shop, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 1700mm wide, or more. The door is 1600mm wide.

Place to eat and drink

Waterview restaurant

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 940mm wide, or more. The door is 940mm wide.
To get to a table, there are no steps.
The dining area is self-service. If you need table service, staff can help you.
The route through the dining area is 800mm wide, or more.
There is background music.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), vegan, halal specific diets.
If you have any other specific dietry needs please contact the restaurant on 01538 300180 and we will do everything we can to accomodate your requirements.

Getting around outside

Designated Walking Trail

The trail is 2400metres long. The trail has a hard surface. The trail is sloped. The trail has seats.

We have two accessible bird hides, situated outside the main entrance on the opposite side of the road, to the east and west side of the causeway. Please ask a ranger or at the visitor centre for directions.

Picnic Area

Numerous picnic areas

From the car park to the picnic area, there is level access. Some tables have space for wheelchair users. You can bring your own food to the picnic area.

There are various picnic areas throughout site, the majority of which are accessible by wheelchair and wheelchair friendly picnic benches situated at various locations around the site.

Play area

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 1020mm wide, or more. The entrance is 1020mm wide.

We have designed our play area with inclusive access and activities in mind.

We have two Tramper mobility scooters for hire at £5.00 for a 2 hour slot, from 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm To ensure availability please call 01538 300188 24 hours in advance to book.

Both the visitor centre toilet and the toilets by the play area are available for visitors with assistance dogs.
