Welcome

The Stables is a 2 bedroom (sleeps upto 4) Steading conversion on a working Beef and Sheep farm just outside the village of Lumsden in rural Aberdeenshire. We are 25 minutes from the Cairngorm National Park and on both the Castle and Whisky trails. The stunning Moray coastline with it pretty fishing villages like Portsoy and Cullen is 30 miles to the north with Aberdeen 30 miles to the east. The market town of Huntly with its castle, Deans Shortbread factory and its shops is 13 miles  to the north  and Alford, home to the Grampian Transport Museum and Alford Heritage Centre is 8 miles to the south so we are ideally situated wherever and what ever you wish to visit.

Travel by public transport

You can get to The Stables - Boghead Holiday Cottages by train.
The nearest train station is Insch Station. The train station is 12 miles / 19.3 km from The Stables - Boghead Holiday Cottages.

Insch Station is on the main Aberdeen to Inverness line.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Shirrans Taxi's by calling 01464 861737 / 01464 861773.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The route is 1200mm wide, or more.

Parking is right outside the cottage and is on hardstanding with some paved area.

The door is 940mm wide.
The main door is side hung and manual.
When you arrive, we can help carry your luggage.

Guests are always met personally so help is always available.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are LED. All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
No bedrooms have fitted carpets.
Duvets and pillows are all manmade fibre.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.

We have an open plan kitchen.
From the main entrance to the kitchen, there is level access.
The route is 1060mm wide, or more.
The door is 770mm wide.
The oven is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.

The worksurfaces are 910mm high with the Hob and Sink set into them.

The oven is 660mm high with microwave above (1360mm)

Sitting room

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 1060mm wide, or more. The door is 770mm wide.

The kitchen/sitting room is open plan, there is a sofa and armchair, dining table and chairs, television and woodburner.

Flooring throughout the cottage is ceramic tile with underfloor heating, no rugs or carpets anywhere.

Green room bathroom

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 1060mm wide, or more.
The door is 770mm wide.

This is ensuite to to the green bedroom, it has a large shower cubicle 115 by 89 with a 45mm threshold.

Blue Bedroom

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 1060mm wide, or more.
The door is 770mm wide.

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 1060mm wide, or more.
The door is 770mm wide.

The Blue bathroom can also be accessed from the hallway as well as from the Blue bedroom.

Standard size shower cubicle 830mm by 850mm with 75mm threshold.

Green Bedroom

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 1060mm wide, or more.
The door is 770mm wide.

The Green Bedroom has a Kingsize zip and link bed that can be split to make two 760mm wide single beds.

Boiler/drying Room

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 1200mm wide, or more.
The door is 940mm wide.

The Boiler/drying room can be used for the storage of bikes or other equipment as well as for the storage and drying of outdoor clothing.

Getting around outside

Patio

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 770mm wide, or more. The entrance is 980mm wide.

The patio is imediatly outside the Sitting room accessed via the double patio doors, there is a slight change of levels between the 2 halves of the patio 100mm sloped over 600mm, the half outside the patio doors is on the same level as the cottage.

There is a grassed area ajoining the cottage.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

Mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs can be stored and recharged in the Boiler/drying room, there are also plugs in the cottage to recharge an electric wheelchair.

The owners live on site so are available if assistance is needed.
