Welcome

Rutland County Museum & Visitor Centre is the perfect introduction to England’s smallest county.

ADMISSION IS FREE!

Our many displays & exhibits from our Collections include:

Archaeology

Rural trades and rural life including: Brewery, Wheelwrighting, Blacksmithing, and an impressive range of agricultural exhibits

Crime and punishment, including the only surviving New Drop Gallows in England

The Brooke Reliquary

and more!

The museum hosts an exciting programme of Exhibitions and Events. We also have Visitor Information, a Gift Shop, Study Area and a Garden.

The main entrance has level access. The ramp is permanent.

The fire alarm has flashing lights.

Visual Impairment - General Information

We have contrast markings on all glass doors, contrast markings on all full-height windows and high colour contrast between walls and doorframes.

Lift

We have 1 lift.
You can get a lift to all floors.

Lift to mezzanine floor

The lift is a platform lift.
The lift door is 900mm wide.
The lift is 1000mm wide. The lift is 1500mm deep.
The lift operates between the ground floor and mezzanine gallery.

Riding School Gallery

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 1210mm wide, or more. The door is 1210mm wide.
Some display information is low, for wheelchair users. There are seats.

Public toilet

From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.

The toilet door is 640mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left.

Poultry Hall Gallery
