Welcome

Polrunny Farm and Holiday Cottages are situated an area of outstanding natural beauty in the hills above the picturesque harbour village of Boscastle on North Cornwall's spectacular Atlantic coast.

Sloe Cottage is one of four self-catering cottages on the farm. Efforts have been made to make this cottage as accessible as it can be. We hope that the information within this guide will help you judge for yourselves whether it meets your particular accessibility needs.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Polrunny Farm - Sloe Cottage by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is down the hill from our farm, outside the Doctor's surgery in Boscastle. The bus stop is 0.7 miles / 1.1 km from Polrunny Farm - Sloe Cottage.
The nearest train station is Bodmin Parkway. The train station is 18 miles / 29.0 km from Polrunny Farm - Sloe Cottage.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with BosCars by calling 07790983911.

Whilst it is possible to reach Polrunny Farm through a combination of train, bus and walking or taxi, most people that stay here have access to a car.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The route is 2000mm wide, or more.

Guests are able to park right outside Sloe Cottage.

Access to Sloe Cottage is via a ramp from the main courtyard. To exit Sloe Cottage, there is a 15mm door lip before you access the ramp.

Getting around inside

We have high colour contrast between walls and doorframes.

Owner's reception

From the main entrance to reception, there is level access.

Onsite support is provided by the owners. The owners can be contacted by phone, email or via their onsite property.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Some lights can be controlled independently.
TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
No bedrooms have fitted carpets.
All of our linen and cleaning products are chosen because of their suitability for people with common allergies. Further details can be provided on request.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.

The work surface is available with clear underspace and available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The hob is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The sink is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The oven is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
Spacious kitchen with the majority of cupboards at low level, and dining furniture that can be arranged around individual needs.

Lounge

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 2000mm wide, or more.

The lounge furniture can be arranged and rugs added / removed as per guests' needs.

Getting around outside

Courtyard garden

From the main entrance to the gardens, there is level access.
The route is sloped. The route is 2000mm wide, or more.

The concrete and gravel courtyard in front of the horseshoe of holiday cottages is gently sloping, and includes a variety of seating areas and tables.

Breakfast garden

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 2000mm wide, or more. The entrance is 2000mm wide.

Polrunny Farm's breakfast garden is a grassed area with sea views. With the exception of a slight bump as you pass from concrete to grass, the breakfast garden is a level area, with a variety of garden furniture spread out within the garden.

Farm Garden

From the main entrance to the area, there are 10 steps.

The Farm Garden is accessed via steps. The garden itself is gently sloping.

Customer care support

Accessibility equipment

A shower chair is available for use in Sloe Cottage. The cottage's bathroom contains a retracting toilet frame.

A dedicated 'dog area is provided approx. 50 metres from Sloe Cottage.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

Emergency evacuation procedures

We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.
