Welcome

Pennywell Farm is a large attraction in beautiful South Devon. Listed in the top 20 Farm Attractions by Trip Advisor we provide a full day of fun for all! 

Join in with half hourly hands on activities like bottle feeding and pig racing. Encouter wildlife, hundreds of friendly farm animals and pets. No visit is complete before cuddling a Pennywell Miniature Pig. Expeience 4 FREE completmentary rides, pedal tractors, assult course and maze, indoor and outdoor play. Relax with a range of dining options or bring pic nic. You're sure to find a gift or souvenieer in our shop.

Travel by public transport

There are no direct public transport links to the farm due to our rural location. The nearest railway station is Totnes which is approx. 7 miles away. Taxis are available at the station. If you require an accessible taxi these can be pre booked in advance. Contact: 01626 334488

The nearest bus stop is in the town of Buckfastleigh at Station Approach. The farm is a mile and half from here up a very narrow, steep lane. The bus route is the X38 and up to date information can be found at: www.stagecoachbus.com  

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Station Taxis by calling 01626 334488. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.
The route is 100mm wide, or more.

There is plenty of FREE onsite parking with 5 clearly marked Blue Badge parking spaces, directly outside of the main reception area.

The car park has a gravel / hardstanding path leading to the main entrance.

There are no steps leading to the entrance / reception area.

Arrival

From the street to the main entrance, there is level access.
The path is 1000mm wide, or more.
The path is sloped.

Main entrance

The main entrance has level access.
The door is 1000mm wide.
The main door is side hung and manual.

Reception is via the gift shop and has step free, level access.

The floor is carpeted and the area is well lit

The reception desk is 89 cm high and there is no screen between visitors and staff

Reception staff will give a brief introduction to the farm and give visitors information on how to get the best from their visit.

Around the Farm

There are TV screens running around the farm to give visitors visual and audio information

Tractor Ted videos are showing on large TV screens in the Tractor Village

Interpretation boards around the farm are in large, clear fonts and have pictures where applicable.

There are plenty of picnic benches around the farm and seating areas in the Café and Coffee shop.

The paths are a mix of gravel and concrete and are level.

Recption staff will be happy to assist you, please just ask if you require any help.

From the main entrance to the desk, there is level access. The route is 1000mm wide, or more.
The door is 1000mm wide, or more.
The desk has a low section.

The reception desk is 89 cm high and there is no screen between visitors and staff

Things to See and Do

We have a concessionary rate for disabled visitors.
We have performances with: relaxed and touch tour.
We have display information in: audio and large print.
We have a designated quiet space.

Whole farm

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 1000mm wide, or more. The door is 1000mm wide.
Some display information is low, for wheelchair users. There are seats.
Some videos have subtitles.

There is a 10% consession for disabled and carers.

Please call if you have additional requirments and we will do our best to accomodate you. 

The site has no steps and wide entrance ways, there are plenty of rest stops with benches and animal pens are either low or ghave viewing gaps. 

Pennywell is a multi-sensory experience.

Spectator/ Audience viewing areas

There is audio descriptive commentary.
You can listen to audio commentary in some of the venue.
We have a viewing area for wheelchair users.

Show field / theatre / main barn

From the main entrance to the viewing area, there is level access. The route is 1000 wide, or more. The door is 1000 wide.
The wheelchair spaces are sheltered. Personal assistants and friends can sit with wheelchair users.
Wheelchair users can sit with their own fans.

Viewing areas are in animal contact zones and as such no food can be consumed as live animals are present. 

Place to eat and drink

Cafe

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 2500mm wide, or more. The door is 2500mm wide.
To get to a table, there is 1 step.
The menu is offered in large print.
If you need table service, staff can help you.
The route through the dining area is 800mm wide, or more.
There is background music.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
We cater for vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), vegan and kosher specific diets.

The eating outlets are all on one level, there is a very low threshold on the door. 

The main restaurant, Henny Penny’s has entrance doors that are 2.5 metres wide

Tables are well spread with upright chairs without arms

Natural daylight is normally adequate but overhead lighting can also be used

The flooring in the Henny Penny’s Café is non slip laminate with wooden flooring in the Coffee Cabin. Noahs Barn has concrete flooring.

All food is locally sourced where possible and we do our best to cater for any dietary requirements. Please feel free to contact us in advance if you have any specific requests.

All food outlets are self service but staff are more than happy to assist on request.

Getting around outside

Picnic Area

From the car park to the picnic area, there is level access. The path is 1000mm wide, or more.
The entrance is 1000mm wide.
Some tables have space for wheelchair users. You can bring your own food to the picnic area.

Smoking

From the main entrance to the smoking area, there is level access. The route is 1000mm wide, or more.
The entrance is 1000mm wide.

Customer care support

Accessibility equipment

Please take assistance dogs to an animal contact area to toilet, let a member of staff know if you need assistance clearing the mess. As we are a farm the staff have problems dealing with poo.
You can hire mobility equipment from World Of Mobility by calling 01626 821100.

Emergency evacuation procedures

We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

Tannoy announcements will be made in the event of an emergancy.
