There is unrestricted free parking on The Parks at the front of the guest house, subject to availability. At the property entrance there is one step 1200mm wide and 190mm high with anhand rail on the left hand side but there is a wooden ramp permanently in place over this step. From the property entrance there is a gently sloing path that goes round the right side of the building and then turns left to reach the rear reception entrance. The distance from th property entrance to the reception door 30m.
The photograph of the path from the front entrance to the property shows steps leading up to the front door. This door is not used to enter or leave the building except as a fire exit. All access to the property is via reception at the rear of the building.
There is a small step 70mm high to get over to gain entrance to the reception area

Bedrooms
Accessible bedrooms
Accessible bedroom Selworthy
The Selworthy suite is in an annex attached to the side of the property and has a separate entrance to the main house. There is a small threshold of 30mm to gain entrance to this suite. Guests enter the double room. On the wall opposite the entrance is a door to a small corridor with the en-suite shower room off this to the left and access straight ahead to a twin room (access to this room is only by going through the double room). Please note that the turning from the double beroom into the bathroom is quite tight and may not be suitable for all types of wheelchair. This suite is principally suitable for those who require a room with virtually level access but who are not totally wheelchair dependent once in the room. It is recommended that guests who can only move about using a wheelchair contact the property in advance to understand the restrictions that may be of relevance. In the bathroom there is a small step of 30mm to gain access to the shower. A raised toilet from is available on request if needed.
Lounge
Guest lounge
There is a small step down of 60mm from reception to the hallway. The guest lounge is accessed through a door 800mm wide on the left from the hallway. The guest lounge is small and quite cluttered with furniture, which would make wheelchair access difficult. Most guests do not use the lounge, as there are comfortable chairs and TVs in all of the bedrooms. If a wheelchair user specifically wishes to use the lounge arrangements can be made to move some of the furniture.
Public toilet
Public toilet
All berooms have an en-suite shower room and toilet. There is an additional toilet not attached to any particular bedroom on the first floor landing. It is not normal for non-residents to be visitng the building.
Place to eat and drink
Dining room
There is a small step down of 60mm from reception to the hallway. The dining room is accessed from a door 800mm wide on the right from the hallway. The dining room is set up to accommodate 18 place settings in line with the number of beds that we have. If a high number of places are occupied the dining room can feel tight for space and there would be limited room to manoeuvre a wheelchair. However, there are many days when occupancy is much lower which allow furniture to be moved around to create additional space. Guests can arrive for breakfast any time within a hours timeframe and even on busier days there will be times which are quieter and may allow for some rearrangement of furniture. Cooked breakfast is ordered and served at the table but cold ittems such as cereals, fruit, fruit juices, yogurts and spreads for toast are served from a self-service buffet but assistance can be provided if required.
Getting around outside
The specifically designated smoking area consists of a small courtyard with a table and chairs. To reach this area it is necessary to climb 4 steps 800mm wide with heights varying between 130mm and 230mm. It is, however, permitted to smoke in any outside area if guests are unable to reach this specific area.
Customer care support
Mobility Scooters and battery powered wheelchairs can be left in the car park or on the path outside the Selworthy Suite. Please note that these areas are not under cover. It will be possible to run electic cables to reach items in these areas that need re-charging.
Emergency evacuation procedures
Guests who are not able to descend the stairs from the first floor in the event of an emergency should ensure that they only stay in the ground floor Selworthy suite where there is a door to exit directly to the outside of the building.
