Welcome

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter is built around a perfectly preserved jewellery workshop offering a unique glimpse of working life in Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter.

Today the factory is a remarkable museum, which tells the story of the Jewellery Quarter and Birmingham’s renowned metalworking heritage. Explore this extraordinary time capsule on a lively guided tourr and watch live demonstrations at the jewellers’ bench.

The museum also contains two self-led galleries exploring theh history of the Jewellery Quarter and natural materials from across the world.

The main entrance has 2 steps and a handrail. There is no lift and no ramp.

The fire alarm has flashing lights.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Museum of the Jewellery Quarter by bus, train, metro and tram.
The nearest bus stop is by the Chamberlain clock on Warstone Lane The bus stop is 0.3 miles / 0.5 km from Museum of the Jewellery Quarter.
The nearest train station is Jewellery Quarter Train Station. The train station is 0.3 miles / 0.5 km from Museum of the Jewellery Quarter.
The nearest tram station is Jewellery Quarter. The tram station is 0.3 miles / 0.5 km from Museum of the Jewellery Quarter.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with TOA by calling 0121 427 8888. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.

There are two disabled parking spaces for the general public on Branston Street, very close to the venue.

The main entrance has 2 steps.
This entrance has a handrail.
The main door is side hung and manual.
The other entrance door is 980.00mm wide.
The accessible entrance is on Branston Street and has a buzzer through to the Reception

You can get a lift to all floors.

From the lift to this area, the route is 900mm wide, or more. The door is 790mm wide.

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. The route is 790mm wide, or more.
The toilet door is 960mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left.
There is 950mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 430mm high. The toilets have handrails.

From the main entrance to the shop, there is level access. The route through the shop is 800mm wide, or more.

Place to eat and drink

Tearoom

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 830mm wide, or more. To get to a table, there are no steps.
If you need table service, staff can help you.

There is background music sometimes.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
We cater for vegetarian and gluten free (celiacs) specific diets.

Getting around outside

Courtyard

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 830mm wide, or more.

The tea room courtyard, when open, can be accessed from the street on a level path if needed. Please ask staff.  The main route is from the Tearoom which does have a threshold.

The Museum courtyard staff carpark can be used as long as visitors clear up any mess afterwards.
