Welcome

The Barn is a recently renovated four bedroomed guest house of medieval origins in the North Yorkshire conservation village of Monk Fryston. It is within easy reach of York, Leeds and Selby by train, bus or car. The Barn has a Visit England Four Star Gold Awards and a Breakfast Award. It aslo won the Deliciously Yorkshire Best New Business Award in 2018.  

Rooms are renovated and equipped to a very high standard and there are two ground floor rooms. Due to the age and position of the Barn, there are two steps down or up to each of these ground floor rooms. Entry to the Barn also has a step up and down.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Monk Fryston Barn by bus and train.
There are two bus stops. Both are within Monk Fryston Village - one outside the Barn and one outside Monk Fryston Hall. The bus stop is 0 miles / 0.0 km from Monk Fryston Barn.
The nearest train station is South Milford. The train station is 2 miles / 3.2 km from Monk Fryston Barn.

We are able to provide a pick up and set down service to anyone travelling by train. Please ask on booking.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Taxi Central by calling 07974181174. You can get a taxi with 21 Taxis by calling 01757 212121. You can get a taxi with Station Taxis by calling 01757 702567. We have a transfer service for visitors.

We are able to pick up and set down guests to local branchline train stations - Selby, South Milford, Church Fenton, Sherburn in Elmet using a four door saloon car.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.

Getting around inside

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, bedside lamps, desk or table lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are LED and energy saving. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We are able to clean rooms with eco friendly cleansing fluids. There is air conditioning to all bedrooms.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
No bedrooms have level access. The bedroom nearest the main entrance has 3 steps.
All bedrooms are ensuite.
We have bathrooms with a separate shower.

Shop

Village Stores

From the main entrance to the shop, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 800mm wide, or more. The door is 800mm wide.
The route through the shop is 800mm wide, or more.

Place to eat and drink

Breakfast Room

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.
To get to a table, there are no steps.
If you need table service, staff can help you.
There is background music sometimes.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), low fat and vegan specific diets.

We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

The Barn has only three bedrooms - one on the ground floor and two on the first floor. There is one staircase to the upper floor. Room 4 is in an annexe and is also at ground floor level. All bedrooms have smoke alarms.

We, the owners live on site and can be contacted by ringing a bell during night hours.Faye is a retired speech and language therapist who has extensive training in the areas of learning disability, autism and communication difficulties generally.
