Welcome

Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders village of St Boswells, The Main Street Trading Company is a destination and people come from far and wide to visit. Husband and wife team Rosamund and Bill de la Hey renovated the former auction house in 2008 to create a light and airy space filled with books and the smell of coffee. In 2012, work was completed in the barn behind the main shop to create Mainstreet Deli & Home.

Travel by public transport

You can get to The Mainstreet Trading Company by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is 0.1 miles from The Mainstreet Trading Company. There are several bus services that go through St Boswells, these include No. 57, 67 & 68 on the Borders Buses routes. The bus stop is 0.1 miles / 0.2 km from The Mainstreet Trading Company.
The nearest train station is Tweedbank Station. The train station is 6.4 miles / 10.3 km from The Mainstreet Trading Company.

The station is a 11 minute drive. 

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
The Mainstreet Trading Company is situated on the main street in the village. There is often space on the street to pull over to let someone be dropped off. The premises also has a courtyard, which forms part of the car park, that can be driven into to drop visitors off. From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.

The main entrance has level access.
The door is 820mm wide.
The main door is side hung and manual.

This entrance is one of two entrances. The one discussed is the accesible one and used most often when using the car park but is also accessible from the street through an archway. There is a second entrance on the main street that has one step (100mm high) and the door is 1330mm wide when double doors are open.

The toilet is a Changing Places toilet.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. The route is 820mm wide, or more.

There is 1000mm at the side of the toilet. The toilet seat is 480mm high. The toilets have handrails.

We cater for vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), nut free and vegan specific diets.

This space is used for some of our events. It is above the Deli and Home Department.

Getting around outside

Customer care support

We have other services for people with accessibility requirements.

We are dog friendly. We have an outdoor water bowl for dogs and can have an indoor water bowl for assistance dogs when requested.

We have baby changing facilities and highchairs available.

Where stairs are required to access the shop, staff are happy to help facilitate any customer's shopping needs, providing recommendations and serving them from the most accessible area.
