Welcome

Low Mill is a listed 17th century cornmill, in the village of Bainbridge in the heart of beautiful Wensleydale. We are about 5 miles from Hawes, the home of Wensleydale cheese. We have 3 individual en suite guest bedrroms, all situated on the first floor, witjh a residents lounge and seperate dining room on the ground floor. The Workshop has a freestanding copper bath with seperate walk in shower, the Kilnroom a walk in shower and the Storeroom a shower over the bath. All bedrooms accept well behaved dogs. We also have a lovely riverside garden for guests to enjoy. 

We offer a full dinner, bed and breakfast service with dinner being available on the majority of nights.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Low Mill Guesthouse by bus and train.
Bus stops are at the end of the drive - buses from Leyburn and Hawes. The nearest train station is Garsdale a 30min car journey. We're in a very rural area so public transport is limited. Taxi services do exist but again are rare and must be pre booked. The bus stop is 0.1 miles / 0.2 km from Low Mill Guesthouse.
The nearest train station is Garsdale. The train station is 11.5 miles / 18.5 km from Low Mill Guesthouse.

Garsdale is an isolated rural station with no taxi rank or station facilities.

You can get a taxi with James Peacock or Street Cars by calling Peacocks - 01969 650 212/465 Street Cars - 0777 942 8075 or 01969 8075.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.
The route is 2000mm wide, or more.

The parking is on the drive directly in front of the property. The drive has a slightly uneven gravel surface. There is a 2 cm step over to enter Low Mill.

Main entrance

The main entrance has level access.
The main door is side hung and manual.
The door is 1040mm wide.

The drive has a gentle slope and is a slightly uneven gravelled surface. There is a 2cm step over to enter the porch to the main entrance area.

Getting around inside

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, floor standing lights, bedside lamps, spot lights and natural daylight.
Lights are LED and energy saving. Some lights can be controlled independently.
Some TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
No bedrooms have fitted carpets.
No bedrooms have level access. The bedroom nearest the main entrance has 10 steps.
All bedrooms are ensuite.
We have bathrooms with a separate shower.
We have bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower. We have bathrooms with a bath.

Lounge

Residents lounge

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

The main entrance leads directly into the residents lounge over a 5cm downward step.

Place to eat and drink

Dining room

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.
To get to a table, there is 1 step.
There is background music sometimes.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), nut free and vegan specific diets.

We can cater for most diets given notice however due to the our rural location it is likely we would have difficulty finding some specialised foods. Likewise Braille and large print menus can be supplied though we would need notice.

Downstairs toilet

From the main entrance to this area, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

The downstairs toilet is accessed via a slate stone passage, width 68cm. 

Getting around outside

The route is sloped.

We have a riverside garden on many levels with direct access to the river. The garden has sloping paths and steps and can become slippery in places.

We live on the premises so are generally available but there are times during the day when we are out. The property is never left unattended at night.
