Welcome

Kingfisher Barn is an attractive stone converted barn which provides superior accommodation for 4-8 people staying at Lower Marsh Farm. Set over 2 floors, the top floor boasts a large open plan kitchen/living area with oak flooring, dining table and a fitted kitchen (new in 2015) with all modern conveniences. Outside there’s a private garden area with your own hot tub, table, chairs and bbq.

The Barn has a 49″ wall mounted satellite television, Blu-Ray/DVD player and 5.1 surround sound. You can even connect your iPod/iPhone wirelessly to the sound system. There are books and DVDs in the the property for your use.

Bedrooms

From the main entrance to the bedroom, there is level access.
The route to the bedroom is 750mm wide, or more.
There is unobstructed floor space 1200mm by 900mm, or more.

Hearing

The (bedroom) TVs have subtitles.
Some staff have BSL training.

We have information in large print.

Staff are available 24 hours a day.

Travel by public transport

By car is the best way, though visitors could travel by bus or train to Plymouth or Saltash then get a taxi to Lower Marsh Farm. A taxi from Plymouth will cost around £20 – £25 and take approximately 30 minutes. A taxi from Saltash will cost around £10 and take approximately 15 minutes.

You can get a taxi with Cottons Taxis by calling 01752 848484. You can get a taxi with Delta 4 Taxis by calling 01752 545545. You can get a taxi with Plymouth Taxis Limited by calling 01752 606060. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The path is sloped.
The route is 700mm wide, or more.

Kingfisher Barn is on 2 levels and has an entrance on each.  The main entrance (lower level) is to the bedrooms and bathrooms and has no steps, whereas the upper entrance, to the kitchen and living area, has 9 steps.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are energy saving. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
We have bed blocks.
From the main entrance to this area, there is level access.
We have bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower.

We have an open plan kitchen.
The route is 840mm wide, or more.
From the main entrance to the kitchen, there are 13 steps. There is no lift and no ramp.
The oven is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.

The kitchen is upstairs (13 stairs), and the main entrance is downstairs.

Lounge

Getting around outside

From the main entrance to the gardens, there are 17 steps. There is no lift and no ramp.

The gardens can  be accessed internally from the kitchen door upstairs (includes 13 stairs from main entrance), or externally from the steps (5) leading from the courtyard to the other entrance (kitchen).

Hot tub area

From the main entrance to the area, there are 27 steps.

Hot tub area can be reached via kitchen and gardens or via courtyard and gardens, 9 steps from garden.

Accessibility equipment

The nearest toilet area for assistance dogs is the garden outside the Barn.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

There is a car port close to the main entrance with a power point.

You can hire mobility equipment from Plymouth Mobility Centre (www.plymouthmobilitycentre.co.uk) by calling 01752 546222.
