Welcome

Tucked away in ancient woodland on the south-eastern shores of Lake Windermere you'll find Hill of Oaks Lodge & Caravan Park - the ideal base for exploring the best of the Lake District. Our park is home to a range of lakeside self-catering properties, glamping pods, safari tents, touring pitches, and holiday homes. And with multiple slipways for launching boats, a ferry service to Lakeside, and some of the best walking routes on our doorstep, we're the perfect choice for those in search of both relaxation and adventure.

Season runs from 1st March 2021* – 2nd January 2022 for touring, glamping and accomodations from 1st March 2021* – 6th January 2022 for holiday home owners. (* subject to change)

The main entrance has level access. The ramp is permanent.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Hill of Oaks Holiday Park by bus and train.
The Bus stop servicing Hill of Oaks Holiday Park is actually the entrance to the Park and is a request stop, this means you arrive at the entrance approximately 5 minutes ahead of the bus schedule, when the bus arrives you simply wave it down. You will be dropped off at the same point on your return journey. Bus: Stagecoach number 6. The bus stop is 0.3 miles / 0.5 km from Hill of Oaks Holiday Park.
The nearest train station is Windermere train station. The train station is 6.1 miles / 9.8 km from Hill of Oaks Holiday Park.

There is a bus terminus at the train station with buses meeeting trains. You can pick up the number 6 bus from here.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Windermere Taxis by calling 01539442355. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
You can get a taxi with Lakes Taxis by calling 015394 46777. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The route is 1300mm wide, or more.

Arrival

Path to main entrance

From the street to the main entrance, there are 7 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.
The path is sloped.

Main entrance

The main entrance has level access.
There is a permanent ramp.
The door is 1900mm wide.

Reception is 500 metres from the entrance down a slope.

Getting around inside

Visual Impairment - General Information

Bistro

Reception Hill of Oaks

From the main entrance to reception, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The door is 920mm wide.
The check-in desk has a low section for wheelchair users. You can sit down at reception.

Site facilities

We can help you with pitching.
You can park next to your tent and caravan.
We have showers, with a seat.
We have showers, with a handrail.
We have a level access shower.
There is a shower chair available.
The level access shower has handrails.
Some toilets have handrails. The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left.
There is 750.00 at the side of the toilet.
There is 1500.00 in front of the toilet.
The toilet seat is 430mm high.
The basin is 600mm high. The taps are lever operated. There is space under the basin, with no pedestal or boxing.
The bathroom has an emergency call system.

The building is a purpose built Accessability walk in shower room with accessable toilet and sink.

From the main entrance to this area, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

Getting around outside

Designated Walking Trail

Road and pathways around lower levels of the Park.

The trail is 500metres long. The trail has a hard surface. The trail is sloped. The trail has seats.

Bottom of Park near Shop & Bistro

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 1500mm wide, or more. The entrance is 1500mm wide.

Road and walkways around the bottom of the Park, walks to the jetties with beach access. Also roads to the accessible Shower block.

We have walk in shower rooms and shower chairs in some of our accomodations and accessibility shower room.
