Welcome

At Hazel Brow House we want to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible, and are committed to providing suitable access for all our guests, whatever their individual needs. We aim to accurately describe our facilities and services to give you the confidence to book our property and ensure it meets your specific requirements.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Hazel Brow House by bus and train.
As this is a rural area, there are very few bus stops. The community bus will drop you where requested. Please tell the Driver in advance where you would like to get off. He will stop directly outside the house. The bus stop is 0.1 miles / 0.2 km from Hazel Brow House.
The nearest train station is Garsdale. The train station is 17 miles / 27.4 km from Hazel Brow House.

There is a bus link from Garsdale station, provided by The Little White Bus company. Please book in advance.

If you intend to use the bus service while you are staying, the timetable is published on their website. You will need the Swaledale Shuttle. Look for http://www.littlewhitebus.co.uk/timetables.php or telephone  01969 667400

To hail the bus, stand in an appropriate position on the road side, we suggest outside the steps at the east side of the house. Hold out your arm when you see the bus to request the driver to stop.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Harkers coaches, Reeth by calling 01748 884533. You can get a taxi with Peter Ellerton by calling 01748 884775.

Transfers are available from Garsdale Station via The Little White Bus Company. Telephone the office in advance to book this service on  01969 667400

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the parking to the main entrance, there are 6 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.
We have a transport service, to take visitors from the car park to the main entrance.

Hazel Brow House sits on the side of the dale overlooking the river and as such we do have to contend with varying ground levels. The main car park, to the west of the house, has 6 steps to negotiate to access to the front door. They are fairly wide, so may be negotiable with assistance.

The East side of the house has a sloping access which can be used by 4 wheel drive vehicles, or larger cars, for picking up and dropping off. Please see the image attached. You can drive to within 3 metres of the front garden gate using but the ground is sloping and cobbled and not completely level so please take .

Alternately there is a small area where you can park a car outside the snug, at the east of the house. See attached image. Access from this area is either a short, sloping walk to the front of the house or down 3 steps to the east entrance.

From the street to the main entrance, there are 6 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.
The path is sloped.

Main entrance

The door is 1000mm wide.
The main entrance has 1 steps.
The main door is side hung and manual.
When you arrive, we can help carry your luggage.

Please request help with luggage and provide an appoximate arrival time.

Getting around inside

We have high colour contrast between walls and doorframes.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are LED. Some TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
Some bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We have wi-fi free bedrooms, for visitors with electro-sensitivity.
Please let us know if you have asthma or allergies and we will endeavour to make sure all bedding is feather free and We can give details of our cleaning products on request.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
The bedroom nearest the main entrance has 13 steps.
We have bathrooms with a separate shower.
We have bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower. We have bathrooms with a bath.
The walls and the fittings have high colour contrast.

Self catering kitchen

Main Kitchen

We have a separate kitchen and dining room. From the main entrance to the kitchen, there is level access.
The route is 7800mm wide, or more.
The door is 7800mm wide.
The work surface is available with clear underspace and available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
From the main entrance to the dining room, there is level access. The route is 1000mm wide, or more. The door is 1000mm wide.

Lounge

Main lounge

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 1000mm wide, or more. The door is 1000mm wide.

Snug

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 7800mm wide, or more.
The door is 7800mm wide.

Getting around outside

Front garden

From the main entrance to the gardens, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

There is a small step at the front entrance. The patio outside the front entrance is level but the main lawn and most of the garden is sloping. There is a bottom lawn which is flat but access is down a sloping path

Terrace

BBQ terrace

From the main entrance to the terrace, there is 1 step.

The sloping path from the main entrance to the BBQ terrace is appoximately 7 metres.

Bottom lawn

From the main entrance to the area, there is 1 step.

There is a steep sloping path to the bottom lawn approximately 15 metres.

We can provide a ramp for the front door on request. Please contact us as we will endeavour to do our best to assist.

The nearest toilet area for assistance dogs is located within the front garden, 5 metres from the main entrance.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

Guests are welcome to use the garage which has a power point for storing and charging mobility equipment
