Grizedale Forest, in the heart of the Lake District, offers an unrivalled day out for everyone.
You can find walking & cycling trails or simply discover a quiet spot to admire the wildlife, amazing sculptures, a place to relax and enjoy some great food.

Level access

The main entrance has level access.

There is level access from the main entrance to:

Parking

There is parking near the venue. There are accessible parking spaces. Parking is not free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.
The route is 900mm wide, or more.

Acces to the courtyard is all level and open. Buildings in the courtyard are accessed via automatic doors.

Visual Impairment - General Information

We have contrast markings on all glass doors.

Ticket/ information desk

Visitor Information Point

From the main entrance to the desk, there is level access. The desk has a low section.

Exhibition Space

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. Some display information is low, for wheelchair users. There are seats.

Exhibitions vary in this space. Seating can always be made available as the area is staffed.

Public toilet

Courtyard Toilets

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left.
The toilets have handrails.

The toilets in the courtyard area have an assistance alarm, baby changing facikities and wheelchair access. The toilets above the carpark offer the same facilities plus a hoist.

Place to eat and drink

Grizedale Cafe

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. To get to a table, there are no steps.
The dining area is self-service. The route through the dining area is 800mm wide, or more.
There is no background music.

Grizedale Cafe can be contacted on 01229 860036 to discuss options available or bookings.

Getting around outside

Designated Walking Trail

The Ridding Wood Trail

The trail is 1600metres long. The trail has a hard surface. The trail is sloped. The trail has seats.

This trail is ideal for wheelchair users and pushchairs. It has musical key sculptures that play when turned so providing a sensory experience for visitors.
