Welcome

We have a range of lodges and cottages at High Oaks Grange, please note we have many slopes, steps and split levels in and around the accommodation. The Grange, lodges and cottages are accessed by a tarmacked driveway half a mile long. We are 1 mile away from the town of Pickering with a variety of amenities including grocery shops, butchers, banks, post office, newsagents, tea shops, pubs, restaurants, doctors and dentist. Travel by public transport

You can get to The Grange by bus and train.
Bus stops are available in Thornton-le-Dale (1.3 miles from entrance) and Pickering Industrial Estate (0.4 miles from entrance) with buses to Scarborough, Malton and Helmsley. The nearest train station is Malton. The train station is 6 miles / 9.7 km from The Grange.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Kappa Cars by calling 01653 699999. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

We have a car park. Parking is free.
From the parking to the main entrance, there are 3 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.

We have contrast markings on all glass doors and high colour contrast between walls and doorframes.

The Grange - Hallway

From the main entrance to reception, there are 3 steps. There is no lift and no ramp.

A paved external area leads to the entrance of The Grange with the doorstep being 12cm in height with a depth of 33cm. The entrance door opens into the hallway area, hinged on the left with a width of 84cm.

The hallway is stone paved with doors leading to the kitchen, lounge, snug, cloakroom and utility room and staircase leading to the bedroom areas.

Lighting throughout the hallways, landing and staircase is motion sensored.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, floor standing lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are energy saving. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
No bedrooms have level access. The bedroom nearest the main entrance has 14 steps.
All bedrooms are ensuite.
We have bathrooms with a separate shower.
We have bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower. The walls and the fittings have high colour contrast.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left and right.

Self catering kitchen

We have an open plan kitchen.
From the main entrance to the kitchen, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.

On the left of the hallway, two separate doors open into the kitchen. One hinged to the left, one hinged to the right. Both with a width of 77cm and step of 13cm down into the kitchen.

Worktop and kitchen island height at 91cm

Range-style oven with a multifunctional and fan oven. Access from both sides.

2 Microwaves – at a height of 150cm.

Kettle and toaster – on worktop.

Dishwasher.

Washer Drier.

Full height fridge hinged to the right.

Undercounter freezer with door hinged to the right.

Wine cooler with door hinged on the right.

Sink and right-hand drainer with twist turn mixer tap.

Drawers x 6 under counter housing cutlery and equipment.

Knife block on the worktop.

Most storage is at worktop height with wall mounted cupboards at 155cm high. A step stool can be provided to assist.

Dining table – two 179cm x 100cm. Height 79cm with 6 chairs, seat height 46cm and fitted bench seating measuring 335cm in length, 49cm depth and 49cm high.

Dresser – 91cm high, 165cm length and 45cm depth

From the kitchen to the games room, door opens into the kitchen with a width of 78cm hinged to the right.

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

On the right of the hallway, the right hinged door opens into the lounge. Width of 75cm with a slight step of 3cm high.

1 x four-seater sofa with removable cushions. Seat height 48cm.

2 x three-seater sofa with removable cushions. Seat height 50cm.

2 x comfy chairs with removable cushions. Seat height 48cm.

Nest of 3 portable coffee tables with heights of 39cm, 48cm and 58cm.

2 x coffee tables with height of 46cm.

Two drawer cabinet at height of 84cm and 1 drawer cabinet at height of 65cm.

SMART TV with DVD.

Electric fire – hearth is 160cm x 36cm x 5cm

From the utility room an external door (width 87cm) opens onto a small paved courtyard with 4 stone steps (15cm height each) leading onto the stoned rear parking area.

Accessible from the hallway with a step of 11cm. Door opens into the room hinged to the left with a width of 62cm.
