Level access

The main entrance has level access. The ramp is permanent.

There is level access from the main entrance to:

Bedrooms

We have non-allergic bedding.

Level access bedrooms

From the main entrance to the bedroom, there is level access.
The route to the bedroom is 750mm wide, or more.
The bedroom door is 750mm wide, or more.
There is unobstructed floor space 1200mm by 900mm, or more.

Hearing

The fire alarm has flashing lights.
The (bedroom) TVs have subtitles.
Some staff have disability awareness training.

Visual

The menu is in audio and large print.

General

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
Staff are available 24 hours a day.
Some staff have disability awareness training.
We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Godshill Park Barn by bus.
Buses from Newport, Ryde, Shanklin and Ventnor stop at the bottom of our drive. Shanklin can be reached by train from Ryde Pier. Our drive is about quarter mile, level access, all tarmac. Guests can be collected by prior arrangement. The bus stop is 0.3 miles / 0.5 km from Godshill Park Barn.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Jays Taxi - Newport by calling 01983 756555. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
You can get a taxi with Ryde taxis - Ryde by calling 01983 811111. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
You can get a taxi with Door 2 Door Taxis & Minibuses - Shanklin by calling 01983 404554. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
We have a transfer service for visitors. Wheelchair users can use the transfer service.

We can collect guests in our private car by prior arrangement.

Any wheelchairs would need to be collapsed and put into the boot.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The route is 138mm wide, or more.

The main entrance has level access.
There is a permanent ramp.
The door is 77mm wide.

The ramp gently slopes.  The entrance door opens outwards.  We can open the door for you if it's a problem.

The door can be opened from the inside by pushing a bar.

Getting around inside

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are energy saving and traditional filament. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We can give details of our cleaning products on request.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
From the main entrance to this area, there is level access.

Accessible bedrooms

Accessible bedroom Soay in the Barn but not South or 4 poster rooms, other rooms in barn are accessible but have varying amounts of space.

The route to the bedroom is 77mm wide, or more. The bedroom door is 77mm wide. There is 125mm at the side of the bed. The bed is 66mm high. There is 5mm under the bed.
The bedroom is flexible (either double or twin). The bathroom is ensuite. The bathroom has a separate shower. There is a shower chair available. The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the right. There is 80mm at the side of the toilet.
There is 90mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 42mm high.
The basin is 83mm high. The taps are lever operated. There is space under the basin, with no pedestal or boxing.

We have a separate level access wet room and toilt which is specifically tailored for less able guests.

It is not en suite but accessed from the corridor.

Lounge

Sitting room in Barn

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 79mm wide, or more. The door is 80mm wide.

Furniture in the sitting room can be arranged differently if you give us advance notice or ask when you are here.

Public toilet

Disabled toilet

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. The route is 79mm wide, or more.
The toilet door is 79mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left and right.
There is 90mm at the side of the toilet. There is 200mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 48mm high. The toilets have handrails.

Place to eat and drink

Dining room

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. The route is 79mm wide, or more. The door is 80mm wide.
To get to a table, there are no steps.
The menu is offered in audio and large print.
The route through the dining area is 800mm wide, or more.
There is no background music.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), nut free, low fat, high fibre and vegan specific diets.

We can cater for any diet given sufficient notice

Getting around outside

From the main entrance to the gardens, there is level access.
There is a permanent ramp.
The route is sloped. The route is 138mm wide, or more.

Balcony

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 79mm wide, or more. The entrance is 200mm wide.

The covered in balcony is accessed from the dining room through bi fold doors and from the sitting room through a door

We provide wheelchairs. Wheelchairs are free.

Assistance dogs n can relieve themselves not far from the main entrance. We will be happy to show you where.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.
