Accessibility Guide for Glamping Pod (Sleep 4)

Welcome

We have a range of lodges and cottages at High Oaks Grange, please note we have many slopes, steps and split levels in and around the accommodation. The Grange, lodges and cottages are accessed by a tarmacked driveway half a mile long. We are 1 mile away from the town of Pickering with a variety of amenities including grocery shops, butchers, banks, post office, newsagents, tea shops, pubs, restaurants, doctors and dentist. Travel by public transport

You can get to Glamping Pod (Sleep 4) by bus and train.

Bus stops are available in Thornton-le-Dale (1.3 miles from entrance) and Pickering Industrial Estate (0.4 miles from entrance) with buses to Scarborough, Malton and Helmsley. The nearest train station is Malton. The train station is 6 miles / 9.7 km from Glamping Pod (Sleep 4).

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Kappa Cars by calling 01653 699999. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. Parking is free.

From the parking to the main entrance, there are 2 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.

The path is sloped.

Main entrance

The door is 1180mm wide.

The main entrance has 3 steps.

The main door is side hung and manual.

A step of 17cm height leads from an inclining, gravelled path to the decked area of each individual lodge. From this decked area, there are two steps – one 14cm and the other 12.5cm to the front door. The front doors to each pod are 2 outward opening doors, hinged to the right and left measuring 118cm in total.

Getting around inside

We have high colour contrast between walls and doorframes.

Some parts of the venue have low lighting.

Site facilities

Open plan kitchen/dining/sleeping

Sofa – height of seating is 46cm, width of 160cm and depth of 57cm.

Dining Table – height of 76cm, width of 80cm and length of 120cm. Folded when not in use with chairs contained underneath. Chairs 44cm high.

Kitchen worktops are 85cm with integrated sink and gas hob. There are 3 undercounter cupboards and an undercounter fridge with freezer compartment.

The microwave is in an overhead compartment at a height of 148cm.

The wardrobe as a hanging rail at 118cm with a shelf over it at 128cm. The handle to the wardrobe is at 120cm.

Bunkbeds – the bottom bunk as a lip of 32cm into it with a ladder of 5 rungs into the top bunk. Each rung is 21cm apart.

The kingsize bed measures 68cm in height.

Wet Room

The shower door entrance is 47cm hinged to the right. It opens outwards into the main living area. The lip is 16cm.

The sink is 87cm high.

The toilet seat is 33cm high.

The shower controls are at a height of 112cm.
