Welcome

This centre, on the site of an old colliery, is the ideal place to start your cycling adventure

The Forest of Dean Cycle Centre has something for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Try the Family Cycle Trail or test yourself on the singletrack trails and demanding downhill runs.  

Bikes can be hired (or repaired) at Pedalabikeaway (booking required). You can also enjoy the cafe and shop after your ride.  

Fly Up Downhill operate a bookable uplift service for the downhill runs.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Forest of Dean Cycle Centre by bus.
The nearest bus stop is 0.6 miles away on the B4226, Speech House road. Access from this stop is via either a busy road with no designated footpath or, along part of the Family Cycle Trail that runs parallel to New Road. The Forest of Dean Cycle Centre is signposted from the Family Cycle Trail across a pedestrian footbridge. The bus stop is 0.6 miles / 1.0 km from Forest of Dean Cycle Centre.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with CDS Taxis by calling 01594 834834. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
You can get a taxi with Moriarty's Taxis by calling 01594 810838.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. Parking is not free.
Visitors can utilise areas of the car park for drop off and collection, however there is designated area. From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.

Public toilet

Forest of Dean Cycle Centre toilet

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
The toilet is a Changing Places toilet.
You need a RADAR key to open the public toilet.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The route is 2000mm wide, or more.
The toilet door is 900mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left.
There is 1300mm at the side of the toilet. There is 2100mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 490mm high. The toilets have handrails.

Shop

Forest of Dean Cycle Centre Bike Shop

From the main entrance to the shop, there is 1 step. There is no lift and no ramp.

There is a step up to sliding doors into the shop.

Place to eat and drink

Pedalabikeaway Cafe

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp. The route is 2000mm wide, or more. The door is 970mm wide.
To get to a table, there are no steps.
There is background music sometimes.
We cater for vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free) and vegan specific diets.

Hire Yard

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 2000mm wide, or more.

Getting around outside

Picnic Area

From the car park to the picnic area, there is level access. The path is 2000mm wide, or more.
The entrance is 2000mm wide.
Some tables have space for wheelchair users. You can bring your own food to the picnic area.

Tricycle and tagalong bikes are available for hire in the hire yard (prebooking required).

There is no designated toilet area for assistance dogs.
