Welcome

The Falkirk Wheel is a fantastic day out with a difference and accessible to everyone! With boat trips, a cafe, gift shop, children's play park and woodland walks, there really is something for everyone.

Inside the visitor center you will find our cafe with a range of fresly made scottish produce. We pride ourselfs in keepig our standard of food high with all dietry requirements catered for and a wide range of gluten free and dairy free food avalable.

The visitor centre is dog friendly and some of our staff are trained in British Sign Language.

Level access

The main entrance has level access.

The fire alarm has flashing lights.

The walls and the doors have high colour contrast.
Some parts of the venue have low lighting.

We have a complimentary ticket policy for personal assistants.
There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
Some staff have disability awareness training.
We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

Travel by public transport

You can get to The Falkirk Wheel by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is situated directly outside the entrance to The Falkirk Wheel visitor centre on Lime Road in Tamfourhill, Falkirk. The nearest train station is Falkirk High. The train station is 2.4 miles / 3.9 km from The Falkirk Wheel.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Bruces Taxis by calling (+44) 0 1324 636000. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. Parking is not free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access.

The main door is side hung and manual.

Getting around inside

Visual Impairment - General Information

We have contrast markings on all glass doors and high colour contrast between walls and doorframes.
Some parts of the venue have low lighting.

From the main entrance to the desk, there is level access. The desk has a low section.

Things to See and Do

We have a complimentary ticket policy for personal assistants.

Spectator/ Audience viewing areas

We have a viewing area for wheelchair users.

Public toilet

Accessible Toilet

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the right.
The toilets have handrails.

Shop

The Falkirk Wheel gift shop

From the main entrance to the shop, there is level access. The route through the shop is 800mm wide, or more.

The is a low counter suitable for the wheelchair users 

Place to eat and drink

The Falkirk Wheel Cafe

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. To get to a table, there are no steps.
The route through the dining area is 800mm wide, or more.
There is background music sometimes.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), nut free, low fat, low potassium, low sodium and vegan specific diets.
