Welcome

Set in one of the most picturesque rural settings of the Peak District in the hamlet of Milldale, Alstonefield, a traditional stone built cottage offering luxurious comfortable accomodation for up to six guests. the cottage has been upgraded for open plan modern day living whilst retaining many of the original features of a cosy country cottage perfect for families or gathering friends for a getaway in the great outdoors or simply a great base to explore the peaks and dales of the Peak District National Park.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Duck Cottage by bus.

The bus service is a demand response door to door bus service connecting villages throughout the Staffordshire Moorlands with Leek, Ashbourne, Buxton and Cheadle. The service collects and drops off at all the specified locations on the marked map and anywhere in-between. Duck Cottage is situated in the hamlet of Milldale, Alstonefield which is a remote location ideally suited to car travel.

The nearest train staion is 11 miles away at Matlock where taxis are available.

Moorlands Connect which is Demand Responsive Door to Door 'Gold Bus' service that must be booked ahead of any journey at a central booking office 01335 342951, the times can vary depending on local demand. The 15 -seater buses cater for wheelchairs, buggies and cyclists.

There is parking near the venue. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.

Bedroom one has a bath with hand held shower attached to the bath taps and a toilet and pedestal washbasin.

The family bathroom has a large walk in shower with a basin set in a vanity unit and a toilet

Bedroom one has a kingsize bed accessed from both sides, bedside tables, dressing table and wardrobe with a sliding door.

Bedroom two has a kind size bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers and a pedestal hanging rack.

The bunk room has single bed sized beds and under-bed storage for clothes.

Self catering kitchen

From the main entrance to the kitchen, there is level access.

The table and plates have high colour contrast.

The table is a country old pine 1801mm long and 830mm wide seating up to 6 people and the crockery is white in colour.

Open plan dining are with a farmhouse style table seating up to 6 people.

The living area is through an 750 mm door from the kitchen

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 750mm wide, or more. The door is 800mm wide.

The living area can be acceseed from the kitchen, in addition the external front entrance enters directly into the living area.

Getting around outside

There are two terrace areas at the property one at the front with a dining table and a bench.

To get to a table, there are 1steps steps.

The front courtyard terrace is accessed through the front entrance where there is a dining table with one step over the threshold and one step to the dining table.

There is an additional raised terrace at the rear of the property which can be accessed from the rear and the front of the property.

There three sets of steps from the rear to the raised terrace, the first set has four steps, the second set has ten steps and the third set has eight steps.
