Welcome

Commence your sensory journey at Deerness Distillery. Visit our self-built artisan distillery in the East of the beautiful Orkney mainland.  Sample for yourself our multi-award winning range of spirits and coffee liqueur, browse our carefully curated gift shop and warm up with a take-away tea or coffee.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Deerness Distillery by bus.
Bus No 3 from Kirkwall Bus Station takes you to the nearest bus stop which is 'Lighthouse Corner, Deerness'. The bus stop is 0.5 miles / 0.8 km from Deerness Distillery.

There is a regular bus service three times a day on Mondays through to Thursdays. Four buses on a Friday and Saturday and no buses on a Sunday.  Cost is currently £1.70 each way.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Orkney Cabs by calling 01856 875000. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.
The route is 1800mm wide, or more.

The main door is side hung and manual.

Some display information is low, for wheelchair users.

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. The route is 850mm wide, or more.
The toilet door is 850mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left.
There is 300mm at the side of the toilet. There is 1540mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 500mm high. The toilets have handrails.

Distillery Shop

From the main entrance to the shop, there is level access. The route is 850mm wide, or more. The door is 850mm wide.
