Welcome

Darwin Cottage features French doors opening into an open plan kitchen/dining/living space. It sleeps up to 4 guests in two bedrooms with a travel cot available if needed. The double bedroom is on the ground floor with a walk in shower room adjacent. Upstairs has a twin/superking double bedroom with a family style bathroom opposite.  There is a fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is off road parking for up to two cars with additional parking nearby. The cottage is located within the South Downs National Park with lovely walks literally on the doorstep.

Travel by public transport

Darwin Cottage is situated in a rural location with no public transport facilities available directly to the door. The nearest train station is Polegate where guests could get a taxi to the property, although arriving by car is recommended.

You can get a taxi with A2B Taxis by calling 01323746746. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
The nearest drop off point is at the parking. From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.
The route is 1500mm wide, or more.

Access to the main entrance from the car parking is through a sliding gate, then via a gentle slope into the courtyard which has crazy paving.

The path is 660mm wide, or more.

The door is 830mm wide.
The main entrance has 1 steps.
The main door is side hung and manual.
When you arrive, we can help carry your luggage.

Access to the property is from the off road parking area rather than the street. Pavements in the village are very narrow.

Visual Impairment - General Information

We have contrast markings on all glass doors and high colour contrast between walls and doorframes.
The entrance to Darwin Cottage is through fully glazed French doors. There are markers at low and high level.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, wall lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are energy saving and traditional filament. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We do not allow pets., We can give details of our cleaning products on request and We can wash bed linen and towels with non-biological detergent if requested at time of booking.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left.

The route is 840mm wide, or more.
The door is 840mm wide.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.

The plates are Denby with a blue trim around the edge.

The main entrance leads straight into the kitchen area.

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 840mm wide, or more. The door is 840mm wide.

Downstairs shower room

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 740mm wide, or more.
The door is 740mm wide.

The downstairs shower room is adjacent to the downstairs bedroom. It features a washbasin, W.C and walk in shower with small step up and a sliding door. There are shelves next to the shower with a traditional style radiator opposite and towel storage above.

Getting around outside

Courtyard

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access.

The cottage is situated in a flint walled courtyard. There is some garden furniture for guests use.
