Danby Lodge is our historic visitor centre, set in an idyllic spot on the banks of the River Esk, near Danby. From the doorstep, you can see pretty much everything that makes the North York Moors National Park so special: moorland, woodland, farmland, miles of hedges and drystone walls, historic buildings – all basking in glorious peace and quiet.

Danby is a railway station on the Esk Valley Line, which runs between Middlesbrough and Whitby via Nunthorpe. The station, situated 15 miles 9 chains west of Whitby, serves the villages of Ainthorpe and Danby, Scarborough in North Yorkshire, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains

One entrance to the National Park Centre, approximately 86cm and 87cm wide. Level access except for slight step at front door. The entrance to the building has double doors that are hooked back when we are open which and a sliding automatic door

The main lawn at Danby Lodge has some picnic tables and there are several benches on site

The Terrace Garden is on level access however the Terrace can only be accessed by steep uneven stone steps
Danby Loop - Walk Around the Grounds
The grounds are a mixture of solid paths, grass areas and a wooden board walks. The grounds a mostly flat and accessable but following wet weather some areas of grass maybe more difficult to get across.
Play area
The play area is accross the main lawn and is on a woodchip flooring.
Crow Wood
There is a gate in the car park into Crow Wood where there is a short circular, easy access route around the wood
