Welcome

We have a range of lodges and cottages at High Oaks Grange, please note we have many slopes, steps and split levels in and around the accommodation. The Grange, lodges and cottages are accessed by a tarmacked driveway half a mile long. We are 1 mile away from the town of Pickering with a variety of amenities including grocery shops, butchers, banks, post office, newsagents, tea shops, pubs, restaurants, doctors and dentist. Travel by public transport

You can get to Cedar Lodge by bus and train.
Bus stops are available in Thornton-le-Dale (1.3 miles from entrance) and Pickering Industrial Estate (0.4 miles from entrance) with buses to Scarborough, Malton and Helmsley. The nearest train station is Malton. The train station is 8 miles / 12.9 km from Cedar Lodge.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Malton Station Taxis by calling 01653 696969. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
From the parking to the main entrance, there are 6 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.

Keys will be held securely in a lock box at the side of the main door to the Lodge. Guests use their allocated 4 digit code to access the lock box.

Reception has an inward opening door, hinged to the right measuring 78cm with a small door lip measuring 12cm high and 15cm deep

Cedar Lodge has room for two cars to be parked. All parking is free of charge. Please contact us for alternative parking arrangements if you have more than two cars.

The reception area is well lit. Each cottage has its own outside light with the switch being located just inside the front door.

Arrival

From the street to the main entrance, there are 6 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.

Main entrance

The door is 800mm wide.
The main entrance has 1 steps.
This entrance has a handrail.
The main door is side hung and manual.

Parking is found at the front of the lodge.Six steps, each 16cm in height with a gate measuring 92cm hinged to the left, lead to a decked area with each lodge/s decking measuring differently. On this decked area, the main door– on the side of the lodge – is an inward opening door, hinged to the left measuring 80cm with a small door lip measuring 3cm high,5cm deep. Patio doors can also be found at the front of the lodge, sliding from the left to the right with a lip of 8cm from the decked area, 12 cm in depth.

We have contrast markings on all glass doors.

Bedrooms have ceiling lights and bedside lamps.
Lights are LED and energy saving. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
No bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
The bedroom nearest the main entrance has 1 steps.
We have bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower. The walls and the fittings have high colour contrast.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the front only.

Self catering kitchen

We have an open plan kitchen.
From the main entrance to the kitchen, there is level access.
The route is 850mm wide, or more.
The work surface is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The hob is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The sink is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The oven is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.

Accessible from the lounge

The lounge area leads directly into the fully integrated kitchen area with:

Worktop, kitchen island and breakfast bar height at 90cm

Single oven/grill, drop down door, height of lowest shelf is 44cm, accessible

from both sides

Most storage is at worktop height with 4 wall mounted cupboards at 178cm high. A step stool can be provided to assist

Dining table – extendable from 150cm x 90cm. Height 75cm with 8 chairs, seat height 48cm

2 stools for the breakfast bar. Height 74cm
