Welcome

​There are one, two and three bedroom properties which can be occupied independently or together.  All cottages are SEND friendly whilst The Buttery is fully Wheelchair accessible.

The Buttery has two bedrooms; master bedroom is wheelchair accessible with a wetroom.  

The bespoke kitchen is designed to meet the needs of wheelchair users with space under the sink and hob, as well as a low oven.  It's fully equipped to give all visitors a home from home feeling. There is a private garden area with easy access to the shared area.  The Buttery is an ideal property for any family to stay.  It has underfloor heating throughout and has free wifi

The route to the bedroom is 750mm wide, or more.
The bedroom door is 750mm wide, or more.
There is unobstructed floor space 1200mm by 900mm, or more.
The bathroom has a level access shower.

Hearing

The (bedroom) TVs have subtitles.

General

The accommodation is rated by the National Accessible Scheme as suitable for:
  • Older and less mobile guests
  • Part-time wheelchair users
  • Assisted wheelchair users
Some staff have disability awareness training.
We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

Travel by public transport

You can get to The Buttery by bus.
The bus stop is approximately 1 mile away. It is by the turning into the village of Sparham, on the A1067. Sparham Hall Farm is in a rural location so public transport is not great. The bus stop is 1 miles / 1.6 km from The Buttery.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The route is 1200mm wide, or more.

There is accessible parking foe visitors who need it.  There is one car parking space, on level concrete.  There is a very slight incline from the accessible parking space to the front door of the property.  There is also a flat path to the front door BUT with one step.

Access from the Cart Shed which is the main area for parking does have a step into the private garden of The Buttery.

The main door is side hung and manual.
When you arrive, we can help carry your luggage.

If a visitor needs help with unloading their car, they just need to let us know in advance to ensure someone is onsite when they arrive.

Getting around inside

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are LED. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
No bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
We have bed blocks.
From the main entrance to this area, there is level access.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the right.
The Master bedroom with a Super King bed. This can also be two single beds.

Accessible bedrooms

The route to the bedroom is 840mm wide, or more. The bedroom door is 840mm wide. There is 1250mm at the side of the bed. The bed is 500mm high. There is 170mm under the bed.
There is a low clothes rail. You can use the rail sitting down.
The bedroom is flexible (either double or twin). The bathroom is ensuite. The bathroom door is 850mm wide.
The bathroom has a level access shower. There is a shower chair available. The level access shower has handrails.
The toilets have handrails. The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left. There is 300mm at the side of the toilet.
There is 850mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 500mm high.
The basin is 720mm high. The taps are lever operated. There is space under the basin, with no pedestal or boxing.

There are 6 handrails in the wetroom.  The shower can be turned on from both inside the wetroom and in the bedroom.

The kitchen

We have an open plan kitchen.
From the main entrance to the kitchen, there is level access.
The route is 1200mm wide, or more.
The work surface is available with clear underspace and available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The hob is available with clear underspace and available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The sink is available with clear underspace and available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The oven is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.

The kitchen has been designed to be as accessible as possible for wheelchair users.  

The kitchen table can have 4 chairs or 2 chairs and a bench; allowing better access for wheelchair users.  There is also a chair with arms.

Lounge

The Sitting Room.

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 1200mm wide, or more.

The sitting room is open plan with the kitchen. There are no rugs and any furniture can be moved around if needed.  There is electric reclining chair in the sitting room..

The private garden area is accessible from the front door of the property as well as three differernt access points, one from the shared courtyard, one from the Cartshed and one from the accessible parking space.

To get to a table, there are no steps.

You can get to the covered area without using a step but it does have a ramp,

Customer care support

We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

There are plugs in the shared courtyard area.

The owners live on sight and are about most of the time.  If visitors need someone to be available 24hrs this can be discussed at the time of booking.
