Welcome

The Audley End Miniature Railway is a family tourist attraction nestled in the beautiful country side of north Essex. You and your family can enjoy an authentic, traditional day out full of innocent fun and imagination.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Audley End Miniature Railway by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is outside the Saffron Walden County High School, approx. 1/2 mile from the Railway The bus stop is 0.5 miles / 0.8 km from Audley End Miniature Railway.
The nearest train station is Audley End. The train station is 1.6 miles / 2.6 km from Audley End Miniature Railway.

You can walk from the Train Station to the Railway however the footpath is not suitable for a wheelchair or pram. You can also get a taxi from the Train Station to the Railway.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Walden Cabs by calling 01799 500500. You can get a taxi with Saffron Walden Wheelchair Taxi by calling 01799 543311. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
You can get a taxi with Five Star by calling 01799 522445.

Parking

We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.

Some display information is low, for wheelchair users. There are seats.

Public toilet

There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
The toilet is a Changing Places toilet.
From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. There is a permanent ramp.
The route is 1000mm wide, or more.
The toilet door is 800mm wide.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the right.
There is 1000mm at the side of the toilet.

From the main entrance to the shop, there is level access. The route is 1000mm wide, or more. The door is 800mm wide.
The route through the shop is 800mm wide, or more.

Place to eat and drink

Signal Box Cafe

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. The route is 1000mm wide, or more. To get to a table, there are no steps.
The route through the dining area is 800mm wide, or more.
There is background music sometimes.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), nut free and vegan specific diets.

From the main entrance to the gardens, there is level access.

Designated Walking Trail

The trail is 300metres long. Some of the trail has a loose surface.

From the car park to the picnic area, there is level access. The path is 1000mm wide, or more.
The entrance is 1000mm wide.
You can bring your own food to the picnic area.
