Welcome

We offer 2 Gold Award winning luxury self catering holiday country cottages on our organic farm situated in Dovedale within the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire with our 5 star Ancestral Barn welcoming older and less mobile guests. Our Dovedale Cottages are Grade II listed and have a cosy "Country Living" feel in one of the most peaceful and tranquil settings deep in the heart of the Peak District National Park, with stunning scenery in all directions. These lovingly restored cottages are situated in a truly unique position at the top of Hall Dale in Stanshope and therefore are ideally positioned for the Dovedale and Manifold Valleys.

We have non-allergic bedding.

The accommodation is rated by the National Accessible Scheme as suitable for:

Staff are available 24 hours a day.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Ancestral Barn by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is at Alsop Station on the A515 The bus stop is 3 miles / 4.8 km from Ancestral Barn.
The nearest train station is Derby. The train station is 22 miles / 35.4 km from Ancestral Barn.

There are also train stations at Matlock and Buxton which are both 16 miles from the accommodation. However, these are branch lines and have fewer trains.

Travel by taxi

You can get a taxi with Ashbourne Taxis by calling 01335 345198. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The route is 4800mm wide, or more.

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, wall lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are LED. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
No bedrooms have fitted carpets.
The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the right.

An indoor space accessed from the yard area to leave mobility scooters (with socket to charge), muddy boots and wet dogs. There is one step from the main entrance to the yard area

There is one step (height 190mm) with handrail from the main entrance to the yard. There is a wooden garden table (height 750mm) and 6 chairs (height 420mm) close to the main entrance.

Pond garden

From the main entrance to the area, there are 2 steps.

There is one step from the main entrance to the yard. There is an additional small step (140mm) leading from the yard into the pond garden.

The nearest toilet area for assistance dogs is in the pond garden or on the lawn next to the parking area.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

We have an electric socket in the bootroom/dog house close to the main entrance of the Ancestral Barn.

Staff are available 24 hours a day.

Guest information is provided in the kitchen and lounge giving details of local services and emergency procedures.

Mobile phone reception is variable depending on network. The landline in the farmhouse can be used for emergenices.
