Welcome

John and Heather assure you a warm, friendly and informal welcome to our Visit England Four Star with Silver and Breakfast Award winning traditional Lakeland stone and slate Victorian Guest House.

All five rooms are double bedded with full shower en-suite facilities. Free Fibre Optic Wi-Fi. Situated very close to Keswick town centre, less than a 2 minute walk from its many shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and numerous other attractions. We are located in a cul-de-sac which makes for quiet evenings. Our elevated posistion offers great views, especially from the patio.

Abacourt is strictly non-smoking. this includes the outside patio area and path leading up to the guest house.

Travel by public transport

You can get to Abacourt House by bus and train.
Keswick Bus Station is 300m from Abacourt House

Nearest Train Station is Penrith. On the Main West Coast Line.

18 miles away.

The bus to Keswick from Penrith stops at the Station ( X4 X5 ) approximatley hourly.

Local taxis are available to and from Keswick.

You can get a taxi with Davies Taxis by calling 017687 72676.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
From the parking to the main entrance, there are 3 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.

The Car Park reached by a lane 15 metres above Abacourt. Turn right into lane, then turn right again, passing through the first car park, you go through a narrow gap into the Abacourt Parking area, large cars to the left, small medium cars to the right.

There is a height restriction of 2 metres too the parking area, as you drive under laundry lines.

Parking on a first come first served basis. Parking for 4 to 5 cars depending on size. Spaces cannot be reserved.

Unrestricted on street parking is available.

There is no access for guests at the rear.

Access for guests to Abacourt is made by the main front door.

From the street to the main entrance, there are 3 steps. There is no ramp and no lift.

The door is 760mm wide.
The main entrance has 1 steps.
The main door is side hung and manual.

There are no bedrooms or toilet facilities on the ground floor.

There is no lift.

There is no stair chair.

Some parts of the venue have low lighting.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, wall lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are LED, energy saving and traditional filament. All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
No bedrooms have level access. The bedroom nearest the main entrance has 16 steps.
All bedrooms are ensuite.
We have bathrooms with a separate shower.

Place to eat and drink

The Breakfast Room

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. The route is 760mm wide, or more. The door is 760mm wide.
To get to a table, there are no steps.
The route through the dining area is 800mm wide, or more.
There is background music.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free), nut free and vegan specific diets.

Hallway and Stairs

From the main entrance to this area, there are 16 steps. There is no lift and no ramp.

There are no Bedrooms or Toilet Facilities on the ground floor.

Access to all bedrooms is via the stairs only.

The stairs have solid wood banisters on the left side and a wall on the right. They do not have hand rails on both sides.

All stairs are 18 cm high.

From the Hallway 12 stairs to a half landing. 180 degree turn to a further 4 stairs to first floor and 2 Bedrooms

Further 10 stairs to a second half landing, with a further 2 stairs to a Bedroom.

180 degree turn to a further 6 stairs and the second floor and 2 Bedrooms.

Wall to wall carpets.

All landings are well lit and have emergency lights.

All landings and bedrooms have smoke detectors and fire alarms fitted.

Fire alarms are siren type.

Fire extingushers are on ground floor and all landings.

Getting around outside

The Front Patio Terrace

From the main entrance to the area, there is 1 step.

The paved patio area to the front of Abacourt has bench seating for guest use.

The paved patio area is strictly no smoking.
