Welcome

Historic, Victorian timber merchant’s property. Peaceful village setting near Cotswold Way. Attractive landscaped gardens, parking, rooms sympathetically restored in traditional style, spacious and comfortable. Separate T.V. lounge/dinning room. Open fires lit during Winter. Terraces with seats to enjoy in Summertime. Tea and breakfast cooked by qualified chef using our own produce. Outdoor activities. Scenic villages. Local attractions. Links to main cities: Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cardiff and London. 

We aim to accommodate all the needs of our guests at 1, Woodchester Lodge B&B so they can relax and enjoy the ambiance of the Cotswold area.

Travel by public transport

You can get to 1 Woodchester Lodge by bus and train.
The nearest bus stop is on the A46 main road that goes north to Stroud and south to Nailsworth. Take the Selsley Road down the hill to the A46, turn right and the bus stop is on the left hand side. The bus stop is 0 miles / 0.0 km from 1 Woodchester Lodge.
The nearest train station is Stroud station. The train station is 2 miles / 3.2 km from 1 Woodchester Lodge.

It is possible to arrange a taxi to the train station which has trains to Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Reading and London.

You can get a taxi with Galaxy private Hire by calling 07796 545 261.

We are happy to take people to the station of convenient.

Parking

We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is not free.
There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.
From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The route is 1116mm wide, or more.
We have a transport service, to take visitors from the car park to the main entrance. Our transport service is wheelchair accessible.

There is a slope down the drive to level parking at the bottom. 

Access from the parking area to the front door is flat and only about 9 meters distance.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms have windows.
Bedrooms have ceiling lights, floor standing lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
Lights are energy saving. TVs have subtitles.
All bedrooms are non-smoking.
We have non-allergic bedding.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
No bedrooms have level access. The bedroom nearest the main entrance has 21 steps.
We have bathrooms with a separate shower.
Some showers have a handrail.
We have bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower. The shower has a handrail.

Lounge

Visitors Living Room

From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 710mm wide, or more. The door is 850mm wide.

The Visitors Living room is also our breakfast room. There is a T.V., sofa and chairs as well as tables for breakfast. We light a fire in cold weather. Gusts are welcome to usthis room whenever they wish.

Place to eat and drink

The Breakfast Room

From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. The route is 710mm wide, or more. The door is 850mm wide.
To get to a table, there are no steps.
If you need table service, staff can help you.
The route through the dining area is 800mm wide, or more.
There is no background music.
The table and plates have high colour contrast.
We cater for sugar free (diabetic), vegetarian, lactose free (dairy free), nut free, low fat, low potassium, low sodium, high fibre and vegan specific diets.

We are happy to cater for different diets after consultation with the customer.

Full English breakfast Mini pancakes Omelette with filling of your choice. Woodchester Lodge coconut and raspberry porridge. Frittata of goats cheese, mi-cuit tomatoes and chives.

Central hallway.

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 710mm wide, or more.
The door is 710mm wide.

There is a large hall in the centre of the house, downstairs. ( approximately 4500 x 4500 mm. ) It gives access to all rooms downstairs and to the stairway to the 2nd. floor. There is a 2 seater sofa and 3 upright chairs in this hall. There is also a wood burning stove which is often lit in the Winter months. This is an ideal place to have tea or read a book.

Getting around outside

Household garden

From the main entrance to the gardens, there is level access.
The route is 710mm wide, or more.

The main area of the garden is edged by a wide path. ( 1200 mm. wide ). This allows easy access to most of the garden. There are a number of benches and tables arranged along this path.

Smoking

The Smoking Area

From the main entrance to the smoking area, there is level access. The route is 710mm wide, or more.
The entrance is 710mm wide.
The smoking area has a shelter.

The Smoking Area is the patio in front of the Front Door or the covered back porch in wet weather. 

There are seats and tables on the patio in front of the main entrance.

There are no seats in the covered back porch.

Terrace

Garden patio and pathway.

From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The route is 710mm wide, or more.
The entrance is 710mm wide.
To get to a table, there are no steps.

Customer care support

Accessibility equipment

We have extensions that can be attached to bathroom taps to make them easier to turn on.

We have a portable step that can be moved around in the bathroom to make access to baths, showers etc. easier. 

We have a downstairs cloakroom with flat access, which customers are free to use by arrangement.

 

There are fields adjacent to our local church, 5minutes walk from Woodchester Lodge B&B.
We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.
You can hire mobility equipment from Assured Mobility, 8, Cornhill Shopping Centre, Union Street, Stroud. by calling 01453 763111.

Emergency evacuation procedures

We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

There are fire notices displayed in all the bedrooms and bathrooms.
